If you asked my dad, he'd probably disagree. You see, I've been an independent sass since way back. But my dad is unlike anyone you'll ever meet. And I mean that in the best of possible ways. Truly. He's a diamond in the rough. They broke the mold after they made him.
My dad taught me...
to always be optimistic and see the best in people.
the importance of singing the songs during Sacrament meeting by pointing to every individual word if he caught me not singing.
the joys of the temple (Saturday mornings w/ him @ draper temple are some of my favorite times)
that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.
that if you watch Stephen King's IT with your brothers on a Sunday, he'll throw away the tape.
that watching a show together while both of us are on our computers is still quality time.
that he should NEVER replace my alarm clock. (Dad waking me up for seminary was easily the roughest time in our relationship.)
that if you make 1,000,000 jokes, one of them is bound to be funny.
that if your father always says "sound it out" when you ask how to spell a word, you might end up as an English teacher.
that only someone who loves you would drive you and your tween friends all the way into the city for a Simple Plan concert and sit in his car until it ended. (We could have at least picked a worthwhile concert!)
that the best breakfast burritos in the whole world are made at home by a Russian Jew.
that Mexican food and Chinese buffets are fine delicacies.
that I have a dad who, I have no doubt in my mind, would do absolutely anything for both total strangers and people he loves.

I love you, pops.
